I spent way too much time on IKEA’s ‘New In’ page – here are the 5 best launches from January

It’s no secret that IKEA gadgets are everywhere at the moment, providing people with a reliable way to improve their homes without spending a fortune. That’s exactly why the latest Matter-compatible gadgets are so popular, and why they made such a splash at CES too.
So, since it’s the last day of the month, I thought I’d round up my five favorite launches from the Swedish retailer this month, and explain why I love them so much.
From smart sensors to smart lighting, you’ll find each of them below – and how much they’ll set you back.
1. KABBLEKALED light line

Although IKEA is no stranger to bright lines, the new KABBLEKALED feels a little more special than most. That’s because it’s USB-C capable and detachable, which opens up a lot more places to install it.
The non-erasable version costs just £7 in the UK and $12.99 in the US, while the adjustable color version is £13 or $19.99, which still sounds like excellent value.
2. SOLVINDEN Floor lamp
The SOLVINDEN floor lamp offers a non-dimmable light with three brightness levels (strong, medium) and has an IP44 rating, which means it is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. That makes it a great option for balconies and patios if you’re looking for something atmospheric.
It also has a fun, compact design – standing at 80cm long and 29cm wide – so it works as well in small spaces as it does in large ones. At £29 in the UK and $49.99 in the US, it’s surprisingly affordable too.
3. GREJSIMOJS LED table lamp
Also very exciting is the introduction of the GREJSIMOJS LED table lamp, shaped like a dog and finished in bright blue. IKEA describes it as “a child’s safe companion that is there both day and night,” and live up to that.
The light turns off with a simple button on the dog’s head, and its crisp white light delivers up to 100 lumens at a warm 2,700K. It’s perfect as a night light or a soft bedside light, and is priced at £19/$39.99.
4. KLIPPBOK Water leak sensor
KLIPPBOK was technically launched as part of IKEA’s Matter range back in November, but it only started appearing on shelves a few weeks ago.
It works by detecting water leaks and issuing an alert when it encounters moisture, and when connected to the hub, it will also send a notification directly to your phone. Powered by a single LADDA AAA rechargeable battery, it keeps running costs low – well worth its £7/$7.99 price tag.
5. SKATGÅSLED lighting kit

Finally, the SKATGÅSLED lighting kit is one of those products that I didn’t realize I needed until I saw it. The kit includes LED lights and a charging tray, so you can store and charge everything in one place.
Each tealight lasts about 35 hours, and has a charging time of 8 hours. If one needs to be replaced, you can also purchase individual SKATGÅSLED tea lights instead of removing the entire set.
Priced at £9/$19.99 for a 4-pack or £25/$44.99 for a 12-pack, this is one of my favorite IKEA finds in a long time.
