An Esthetician Shares the Best Body Care Products

Although I’ve spent years writing about skincare and trying almost every face product under the sun, I’m ashamed to admit that I neglected my body care until recently. Before, I indulged in a little body lotion, a body butter and the occasional treatment serum, but other than that, my routine was pretty much nonsensical (yikes). Just like the skin on your face, your body’s skin can start to show signs of aging if you don’t take care of it properly. The person who convinced me that I needed a body care routine that rivaled my facial skin care was mine esthetician, Katie Sobelman.
Sobelman my most trusted dermatologist, who emphasizes the importance of taking care of your skin from head to toe. This means investing in youth-enhancing body treatments that do more than just hydrate. She has also introduced me to almost all of my favorite beauty brands, so anything she tells me to use, I will try in a heartbeat.
Admittedly, I needed a little education on the topic of skin care because I didn’t know where to start. As someone in his 30s, I knew I had to start doing more, too Sobelman I was happy to give you everything you need to know about this topic. With her help, I found a next-level treatment that keeps my skin soft, firm, and dark—and breakout-free. For all his advice and records, keep scrolling. He shares everything in advance.
What should your body care routine include?
There are many great skin care ingredients out there that help with longevity, but my first question to Sobelman was, “Do we need them all in the body?” Although it may seem unnecessary to use active ingredients on your skin, Sobleman it says to think again. “Like the skin on the face, the skin on the body benefits from many of the same nutrients—peptides, retinol, and antioxidants like vitamins A, C, and E,” she explains. “However, the skin on the body is usually thick, very thin and slow to renew itself, which makes it especially receptive to rich emollients, ceramides and omega fatty acids that help to restore and maintain the health of the barrier. Another unique benefit of body care is its ability to support the fascia under the skin. Certain formulas that contain lipid may improve transorp, fab-rich hydration that improves transorp and improves fab hydration and and fab supports healthy blood flow, muscle stiffness and even the body’s production of hyaluronic acid.”
So, if you just use an emollient-rich body lotion and nothing else, you’re doing amazing, sweetie! This does not mean that you be using tons of active ingredients in your body care routine, but they can be very beneficial for anyone who wants to take an important step in maintaining the youthful quality of their skin in addition to the face.
How often should you use body care treatments?
Like skin care, Sobelman He says you will see the best results with your body care routine if you combine your medications daily. “Think of it less as a treatment and more as part of your basic skin care ritual,” she says. “Just as the face benefits from the consistent use of active ingredients, the body responds best if it is regularly nourished. The daily use of an antioxidant, lipid-replenishing or exfoliating bodycare helps to support cell turnover, the integrity of the skin barrier and complete tissue circulation. If your formula includes a powerful action such as retinol, you can change or add a buffer as needed (it concentrates those body products every day), but strengthening the body daily use creates visible and lasting results.”
Although I used to use a loofah or an African net sponge to exfoliate my body, This is Sobelman’s place the advice inspired me to apply skin-exfoliating treatments, too. Exfoliating the skin can help speed up the turnover of skin cells, which, Sobelman mentioned above, is already slower on the body than on the face. In his opinion, it is better to include some kind of exfoliation at least once or three times a week. “[It] it can make a big difference in skin texture, texture, and absorption of active ingredients. While the skin of the face is usually renewed every 28 days (the open rate, usually close to the age of every year, slows down as we age), the skin of the body can take up to 45 to 60 days, especially as we age. This means that dead skin cells remain for a long time, blocking the penetration of nutrients. “
My personal favorite is chemical exfoliation, though Sobelman he says you can benefit from both physical and chemical immersion. “Gentle exfoliation—whether it’s physical (like dry brushing or body scrubs) or chemical (like lactic acid or enzymes)—helps break down build-up and encourage new skin to come out,” she says. “But skin peeling is part of the routine. Always follow with rich, hydrating products – think of ceramides, oils or creams rich in hyaluronic acid – to replenish moisture and support the skin barrier. This not only improves the benefits of exfoliation, but also helps maintain the elasticity and functionality of both skin. again the fascia beneath it.”

Body Os-01 Peptide Topical Supplement & Skin Longevity Age Reversal Moisturizer
This peptide-packed treatment is deeply nourishing, too, as Sobleman says, “one of the few high-tech treatments that also feels hydrating and comfortable. OneSkin’s OS-01 Body uses a proprietary peptide, OS-01, to target cellular sensitivity—marked by the accumulation of ‘zombies.’ These cells stop working properly but do not die, causing inflammation. For dry, dehydrated skin, you really can’t go wrong with this best-selling body lotion. Atoderm Shower Oil Body Wash
Swapping out your body lotion for a shower gel can make all the difference in hydrating and moisturizing your skin. One of our favorites is the Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil Body Wash. Retinol for the body
This body retinol is a staple treatment for me. It contains both retinol and 10% AHA complex that exfoliates the skin, accelerating cell turnover. I don’t use it every night, but it definitely still delivers results.
