Getting purple first is always the biggest buzz you can get when playing Connections – it does for me anyway, as it’s a very rare event.
I would like to say that the key to purple success is to first read the board or write notes on each tile, but I think you either see it or not and today WORK TIME was a weird way of saying “SHIFT” that sent me on my way to glory.
At that time, the blue group Y-SHAPEED THINGS completely passed me by.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of the increasingly popular word games created by The New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four elements that share something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is a little harder, blue is usually harder and purple is usually more difficult.
On the other hand, you don’t technically need to solve the last one, as you will be able to answer that one through the process of elimination. In addition, you can make four mistakes, which gives you a little breathing room.
It’s a bit more involved than something like Wordle, however, and there’s more chance for the game to get bogged down with tricks. For example, watch out for homophones and other word games that can hide answers.
It’s free to play through the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
